The flow of direct investment with significant impact on economy - April 2006

During October 2001 and April 2006, the Regional Development Agencies registered 445 investment projects, exceeding the equivalent of USD 1 million  (benefiting of the incentives granted by Law no. 332/2001 regarding the direct investment with significant impact on Romanian economy). The total value assumed for these projects is more than USD 5.548 billion, the foreign share representing USD 3,874 million representing 69.82% of the total.From these projects, 302 were finalized, with a value of USD 2.4 billion.In April 2006, direct investment with significant impact on economy increased at USD 103 million, of which USD 71.581 million – Greenfield and USD 3.332 million – Brownfield, compared to only USD 15.501 million in April 2006.The investments were registered in the following main fields:Telecommunications: 57 projects with assumed value of USD 1,306 million, representing 23.54% from the total;·        

Wood processing: 22 projects with assumed value of USD 657 million, representing 12.05% from the total;·        

Services- 60 projects with assumed value of USD 669 million, representing 12.05% from the total;·        

Trade- 834 projects with assumed value of USD 524 million, representing 9.44% from the total;·        

Energy sector- 23 projects with assumed value of USD 436 million, representing 8.00% from the total;·        

Machine building- 39 projects with assumed value of USD 423 million, representing 7.63% from the total;·        

Constructions and constructions materials- 37 projects with assumed value of USD 330 million, representing 5.94% from the total;·        

Metallurgy- 16 projects with assumed value of USD 209 million, representing 3.77% from the total;·        

Electronics and electro techniques- 15 projects with assumed value of USD 232 million, representing 4.18 % from the total.Among the registered projects, it is worth mentioning:·        

Telecommunication: MOBIFON will invest USD 30 million in improving the capabilities of voice and data transmission, and the invoicing system;·        

Agriculture: MONSANTO ROMANIA will invest USD 27 million in constructing a production unit for seed in Sinesti – Ialomita county;·        

Electronics and electro techniques: -  MARQUARDT SCHALTSYSTEME will invest USD 23 million in producing electic and electromechanic systems for automotive industry;·         retaling -  PORSCHE ROMANIA will invest USD 7.8 million in a Showroom,  and other service facilities located in Chiajna - Ilfov;·         c

onstructions and construction materials   -  ANA HOLDING will invest USD 5 million in  office building construction connected activities;·        

Machine building - MEHID GALATI  will invest USD 1.3 million  in the production of automotive component pats;·        

Real estate - TERIMOB INVEST – will invest USD 4.9 million in constructing an office building in Cluj Napoca.A classification by value, indicates that were registered 6 projects over USD 100 million, 15 projects with value between USD 50 and 100 million, 114 projects with value between USD 10 and 50 million, the rest until 480 being projects with value between USD 1 and 10 million.1.                 

As concerns the regional spreading, most projects were registered in:
Bucuresti-Ilfov Development Region - 267 projects, with assumed value of USD 3.453 million, representing 62.24% from the total, of which foreign investment 2.497 million USD, representing 45.00%;2.                 

Centru Development Region (counties Alba, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita, Mures, Sibiu) – 78 investment projects, with assumed value of USD 778 million, representing 14.02%, of which foreign investment USD 462 millionioane, representing 8.38% from general total;3.                 

South-Muntenia Development Region (counties Arges, Calarasi, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Prahova, Teleorman) - 35 projects, with assumed value of USD 491 million, representing 8.85% from the total, of which foreign investment USD 368 million, representing 6.64%.As concerns the country of origin, foreign investors that registered investment projects in value exceeding USD 1 million, are coming from the Netherlands, with USD 1,325 million, representing 23.88% of total investment, followed by Austria with USD 691 million, representing 12.46% and from France, with USD 406 million, representing 5.38% from the total investment.
