( 27 / May / 2006 )
The French Group Renault is to expand its investments in Romania through a new plant producing MT1 Renault Nissan gear boxes. The value of the investment, yet to be finished in the next 3 years, amounts EUR 215 million, creating 650 new jobs. This is Renault’s second investment in Romania. In 2004, Renault-Nissan registered a EUR 40,715 million revenue (out of which EUR 3,551 million represents Renault’s net income), with 130,573 employees worldwide.
A French-Romanian team of 50 French and 80 Romanian specialists will be in charge of the investment project in Pitesti. Furthermore 650 jobs will be created, out of which 550 operators and 100 engineers. The production estimated at 2000 gearboxes daily is to be entirely exported.
Renault representatives after having more than a few talks with ARIS staff, as well as with ministries and other institutions directly involved chose Romania as the location of the future investment, based on our country strong tradition in automotive production as well as the incentives provided by the law regarding the foreign direct investment with significant impact on the economy.
ARIS president – Mrs. Ana Maria CRISTINA considers the very project as “confirmation of investors optimism as far as the pozitive outcome of their investment is concerned. I hope that in the near future we will be able to take a step forward in announcing simillar substantial investment projects, relevant for the Romanian economy.
