Poland - among top offshoring locations

( 10 / June / 2005 )

Eastern Europe emerges as a region offering strong incentives to investors interested with offshoring, as all eight countries are clustered towards the top of the ranking. Poland ranks 5th in the global ranking.

All of the Eastern European countries achieve relatively strong scores across a wide range of indicators. Importantly, the region’s economic, historical and geographic ties with Western Europe make it attractive for smaller companies looking for a culturally similar labour force. Companies from Western Europe can also leverage Eastern Europe’s language skills. Poland is well ahead of its regional competitors - Slovakia and Hungary.

Offshoring is one of the most significant forces shaping today’s business environment. Offshoring projects include call centres, shared service facilities, IT services and regional headquarters.

The ranking was prepared by the Economist Intelligence Unit, in co-operation with Dimension Data and Oracle Corporation. It examines nine separate measures of attractiveness, covering proximity, political and security risk, macroeconomic stability, regulatory environment, tax regime, labour regulation, labour costs, labour skills, and infrastructure.
