The contest will be one of the biggest and most prestigious events organized so far in Poland. The contest is under the patronage of Polish Prime Minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz.
Elzbieta Wierzbicka, Chairman of the Miss Polonia Organization said: “We are incredibly proud to host Miss World 2006 and to share the beauty of our country with the people of the world. Poland will welcome the contestants with a warmth and compassion for which Poles have become known. This is the greatest event in Poland’s recent history and the whole nation will unite to ensure that it is a success.”
Miss World since 1951 is the largest and most renowned international beauty contest. In 2005 it was hosted by the Chinese city of Sanya. Earlier, the finals of the contest were hosted e.g., by South Africa and Great Britain. Each of the places that hosted Miss World collected many benefits from the contests. The most important ones are increase in prestige and popularity of a given location. Polish cities should more actively take part in such events. It’s one of the most effective ways to promote Poland.
