List of the Major Foreign Investors in Poland in 2006

In December 2006 there were in Poland nearly 1.100 large foreign investors who came from 37 different countries. The most numerous group have established investors from Germany (248 companies), the Netherlands (124) and the United States (124). In the report there have been specified investments with at least 10% of shares owned by a foreign investor and the outlays’ value amounted to at least 1 million USD.
Global flows of foreign investment reached in 2006 1.2 trillion USD, representing a 34% increase over the previous year.
The value of FDI entering the new EU member states also increased. Among the new EU members Poland has noticed the highest FDI inflow. According to preliminary data from the National Bank of Poland (NBP) in 2006 the value of FDI in Poland was 13,9 billion USD – more than 55% in relation to 2005. Hungary took the second place with the value of 6.2 billion USD and then – the Czech Republic (5.4 billion USD) who dropped from the first place in 2005 and Estonia with the value of 1,6 billion USD.
The most popular regions among the foreign companies to place the investment in 2006 where the voivodships: dolnośląskie, mazowieckie, kujawsko-pomorskie and małopolskie.
