IMF Increases Poland's 2006 GDP Growth Predictions

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its predictions concerning the GDP growth in Poland in 2006 to 4.8%. Earlier forecasts estimated the result at 4%.
According to IMF, the GDP growth will be at 4.5% in Poland in 2007. The present interest rates are expected to remain stable throughout 2006 (the basic National Bank of Poland's (NBP) interest rate is 4% at the moment).
Schadler has also encouraged the Polish government to reduce the budget deficit to PLN 26 billion in 2007 by lowering the expenses. Additional important issues mentioned were the "quick" introduction of the euro, reduction of the tax wedge and tax levels.
