Growing employment in the national economy
( 08 / March / 2005 )
The situation on the labour market in Poland is improving. It is forecasted that the employment will increase in sectors, such as: automotive, food, furniture, banking, mining, trade etc. A few dozen thousand of jobs can be created.
The work efficiency in Poland rises much faster than in most countries of the EU. This year it will reach the level of 50% of the EU average. This ensures high competetiveness of Polish companies as the average remuneration in Poland amounts to 20-25% of the Western European salary.
In order to stay competitive on the European market, companies do not have to limit their employment-related costs. In addition, Poland next to the Baltic countries, has the highest development growth in the EU. Last year GDP in Poland increased by 5.4% and it is expected the growth will remain on a similar lavel in 2005. Poland, next to Cyprus, has the highest rate of export growth in the EU.
Improvement in consumers' satisfaction is visible e.g. in the construction sector, where more workers are being employed. Banks, which are concluding the restructuring proccesses, will also be employing new workers. New jobs will be created together with large investments of western companies - e.g.: Electrolux, Toyota, Faurecia, Opel and Michelin.
Foreign investors are equally important in trade sector. High pace of employment growth is expected by Tesco, Geant and Carrefour.
Poland is also becoming a destination for investments in the BPO sector. This year so far Poland has already attracted 10 investments in the service centres, which will create thousands of jobs. Other investors are attracted by the new incentive - opportunity to locate investments in Special Economic Zones.
New regulations are beneficial to special economic zones located on the area of large cities- such as Łódź, Kraków, Katowice. There are many educated workers who have good command of foreign languages and computer skills.
