Excellent increase in efficiency of Polish workers!
( 20 / January / 2006 )
The newest report of the American research institute The Conference Board shows that an increase in efficiency in Poland was highest amongst all of the new members of the European Union. Poland came very close to China - the undisputed leader of this classification.
Increase in efficiency of work in the Polish economy accelerated rapidly in 2005. Productivity, understood as a value of products manufactured during one work hour, has increased by 7.7%. Among emerging markets countries with better results were achieved only by China, where the efficiency increased by 8.4%. Poland even overtook South Korea, where the productivity increased only by 2.6%.
The efficiency in other EU accession countries of 2004 was slower than in Poland. Average increase in those countries rose from 4.1% in 2003 to 6.3% in 2005. New members of the EU are definitely surpassing the developed countries, including the “old fifteen” where efficiency of work in 2005 has increased barely by 0.5%.
“The report results mean that Polish economy is becoming more competitive. Increase in the work efficiency is the main source of increase in Polish GDP. It is the effect of Polish openness towards the world, foreign investments and using modern technological and organizational solutions, ”said Euro deputy, Professor Dariusz Rosati in the Rzeczpospolita daily.
The Conference Board data on work efficiency are based on projected increases of GDP and employment in 2005 prepared by the OECD. They encompass the value of a work hour counted by evaluating the buying value of national currencies. Full version of the report will be available in March 2006. It will describe 102 countries that make 98% of the world GDP.
