Additional flights to the investors' favourite, Brno - the visegrad city of the future

( 12 / May / 2005 )

Brno, an investors’ favourite and winner in the Cities of the Visegrad Group category of the European Cities of the Future 2004/2005*, is linked to almost the entire world by 26 new flights weekly.

The airline company CSA is the operator of new routes, thanks to which Brno will be connected to the rest of the world via the capital city Prague. CSA thus joins the low-cost carrier Ryanair, which currently operates a Brno-London (Stanstead)-Brno route, and the German regional airline Cirrus Airlines, which in October began a regular Brno-Munich-London route, operated twice daily with established connections to Lufthansa’s routes from Munich to the entire world.

The growing number of airline connections makes the Czech Republic even more attractive. This is especially true for investors who do not travel to the country for the beauty of venerable Prague, but visit a wide range of other regions and cities of interest primarily due to the needs of their business. Thus in this respect Brno belongs among the most preferred cities. There are several reasons for this. The dynamic development of its technical universities places Brno among the cities with the greatest number of university students per capita. The abundance of qualified workers together with well-prepared technology parks and industrial zones provide an excellent background for investment in the area of research and development. These favourable conditions have already been put to use by prominent investors such as Honeywell, IBM, LogicaCMG, Lufthansa, Tyco International, Daikin Industries, GigaByte Technology, Progeon, IMI International and others.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT AIRLINE CONNECTIONS TO THE CR

Thanks to the accessibility of the Prague-Brno-Ostrava triangle by air, practically any location within the Czech Republic can be reached within 1-2 hours.

Ostrava
Since 4 November 2005, travelers have been able to use the regular Ostrava-Vienna route operated Monday through Friday with twice-daily departures and flight-time to Vienna of only 45 minutes. The route is operated by the Ostrava company Central Connect Airlines (CCA) of the Central Connect Group (CCG). The airline is currently preparing an Ostrava – London route.

Prague
The number of flights, their frequency and connections between Prague and the rest of world is so large that it suffices to simply mention it. >From Prague it is easy to fly to anywhere, and the same can be said for flights to Prague. The greatest number of connections are, of course, within Europe as well as to traditional overseas business partners in the United States and Canada. Interest from Asian investors is demonstrated by the relatively recently established direct routes to and from Taipei (Taiwan, China) and Seoul (South Korea).

Flights between Karlovy Vary and Moscow have been in operation for a longer period of time. The establishment of routes from Brno, Ostrava and Karlovy Vary to Ukraine, Italy and London is currently being negotiated.
