JJS Electronics in Chomutov

JJS Electronics of Lutterworth, a large independent UK contract manufacturing specialist, have opened a new facility in the Czech Republic for the assembly of hi-tech electronic and electro-mechanical devices. Over the next 2 years this investment will bring between 120 and 200 new jobs to the region of Chomutov, N. Bohemia, an area of high unemployment.
Rodney Yeadon, Chairman of Alpha Management, believes that this investment will prove to be an inspired decision. ”As well as protecting JJS Electronics business in the UK by substantially reducing production costs, the Company will be able to approach Mainland Europe customers, applying its manufacturing skills to a much larger market”
Founded in 1983, JJS Electronics provides a complete service for all aspects of Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS). This service covers Prototype Build, Small to Medium Volume Production, Printed Circuit (PCB) Assembly, Wiring Looms, Assemblies and Cabinets, Electro - Mechanical Assembly, Box Build and Configuration, Product & System Test. They also offer Procurement, Product Management and Field Service in all areas of EMS.
JJS evaluated several countries in Central Europe and the Far East before finally selecting the Czech Republic for their investment. Key factors in the decision were the country’s EU membership, political stability and geographical location. John Butcher, Managing Director of JJS, comments, “The country is far enough into Central Europe to give us a sustainable cost advantage whilst still being close to our Western European customers. We immediately felt comfortable with the people and surroundings of Chomutov”. He added, “once the full costs of outsourcing to the Far East are evaluated I believe there will be a swing back of low & medium volume products, destined for the European marketplace, to manufacturing in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.”
Alpha Management supported the JJS investment by identifying the factory premises in Chomutov, establishing the local company JJS Electronics s.r.o., interviewing more than 200 potential workers, applying for recruitment and training grants through CzechInvest and by handling all the local bureaucracy.
This investment is the third that Alpha Management has set up in Chomutov. It follows the highly successful RB Farquhar s.r.o. and Hillside Plastics s.r.o. investments. Alpha is presently assisting the Jeyes Group(UK) and Andreas Schmid (Germany) with a joint production and logistics centre development in the N. Bohemia region.
Alpha believes that N. Bohemia is an especially favoured location for investment because of its location adjacent to the German border, the availability of quality workers and the incentive regime established by CzechInvest.
