Specialty Coating Systems www.scscoatings.com has been protecting electronic components and devices with Parylene conformal coatings for nearly 40 years. Parylene coatings are applied via a vacuum deposition process in ultra-thin, pinhole-free layers. The optically clear coating offers excellent barrier properties that protect numerous electronic devices from exposure to moist environments – be it weather, human perspiration, salt or fresh water exposure, atmospheric conditions, etc. In addition, its dielectric properties protect components and users from electrical charges. These properties, and many others, make Parylene the ultimate conformal coating to splash-proof electronics.
In 2009 SCS decided to explore the options for moving some manufacturing capability overseas in order to be closer to the growing CEE regional market for SCS products and services. As well as firm opportunities already identified in the Czech automotive, cosmetics and electronics sectors, interesting new opportunities had been identified in the German market.
During 2010 Alpha supported the entry of SCS to the Czech Republic by:
- Evaluating different locations in terms of labour costs and skills availability, so confirming Plzen as the optimum final location for the factory
- Establishing the local sro company including obtaining appropriate trade licences, opening bank accounts, registration at the Finance Offices and VAT registration in the new district
- Recruitment of the Plant Manager, administrators, plant workers
- Preparation of working agreements, medical screening, training
- Supporting SCS management on local issues with the building and equipment and obtaining the local operating licence
- Arranging bookkeeping, medical, waste disposal, other services
- Managing bank accounts, checking invoices, preparing monthly budgets and cash flows
- Providing Jednatel (local executive) services
- Providing office support services
The SCS facility in Plzen, Czech Republic, opened during 2010 and in the first half of 2011 start-up of the second phase of production equipment was approved by the local authorities.
